[ About ]■
Michael Costello is a 19-year-old professional racing driver based in Naples, Florida, competing in the USF Pro 2000 Championship — one of the most competitive open-wheel development series in North America and a direct pathway to the IndyCar Series.
Born in Pennsylvania, Costello's passion for motorsport ignited at just 6 years old, spending nine formative years in karting — building the reflexes, racecraft, and competitive instincts that only come from thousands of hours on track. At 14, he relocated to Naples, Florida, a move that would prove pivotal in his development as a professional racing driver.
At 16, Costello made the leap to single-seater cars, entering the Formula 4 United States Championship (USF4) — the traditional entry point for young open-wheel talent in America. He then progressed to USF2000, continuing to sharpen his skills against some of the best junior drivers on the continent before earning his place in USF Pro 2000.
The 2025 season marked Costello's USF Pro 2000 debut — a year of adaptation, data gathering, and proving he belonged at the level. He did exactly that. Now in 2026, his sophomore season, Costello returns with a full year of Pro 2000 experience under his belt, a deeper understanding of the Tatuus PM-22, and one clear objective: the championship.
The Tatuus PM-22 is a purpose-built open-wheel machine featuring genuine aerodynamic downforce, slick tires, and a chassis that separates the contenders from the pretenders. USF Pro 2000 sits directly above USF2000 and below Indy NXT on the Road to Indy ladder, placing Costello just two steps from the IndyCar Series. The championship visits North America's most iconic circuits — Road America, Mid-Ohio, St. Petersburg — and in 2026, Costello intends to stand on top of all of them.
Nine years in karts. USF4. USF2000. A Pro 2000 debut season. And now — a title campaign. Michael Costello has climbed every rung of the ladder with intention. In 2026, he's coming for the top step
